A disused bank in Wall Street might seem like an odd place for the first taste of fashion month’s fall 2020 season. The show, taking place in a dimly-lit warehouse smack bang in the middle of the financial hub of New York City, kicked off another whirlwind and, frankly, downright exhausting round of some 300 presentations across the world. Attendees are starkly aware that this is the most rested they’ll feel all week.<\/p>\n

But as soon as the first Monse model hit the runway, wearing a deconstructed trench coat and chunky white boots, the setting made sense. Filled with safety pins, chokers and tartan, the inspiration behind Monse designers Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia’s new collection was clear: British punk.<\/p>\n

Filled with Monse’s signature cut-out and asymmetrical details, the collection was an ode to the 1970s with snippets of 90s grunge spread throughout. The show had its fair share of animal print and leather, too, showcased by James Turlington, nephew of Christy.<\/p>\n

Turlington, a 25-year-old industry newcomer, is all the proof you need that even once-removed, supermodel genes don’t fall too far from the tree.<\/p>\n

As for us?
