Upon walking into Michael Kors’ NYFW venue, the American Stock Exchange headquarters in Manhattan\u2019s financial district, the designer’s inspiration for his fall 2020 collection was clear. The runway was made up of raw wood planks, barn-sized windows and a stage set up for Canadian country musician, Orville Peck: Kors was taking us to the countryside.<\/p>\n

It’s only fitting then that models walked the runway in equestrian boots, earthy and burnt orange tones and plaids that will no doubt move straight from the runway into Blake Lively, a long-time Kors fan’s, wardrobe. The actress was, in fact, already wearing a plaid waistcoat in the show’s front row.<\/p>\n

Cozy, oversized knits which wouldn’t be amiss at the Beckham’s family home in the English countryside and a cape reminiscent of the one Naomi Campbell debuted at Kors’ 1999 show, which writer Joan Didion requested the very next day, made up the bones of the collection. And, later in the show, Bella Hadid debuted a red carpet-worthy halterneck gown, covered in sequins and sustainably made from recycled plastic bottles.<\/p>\n

For this collection, Kors perfectly showcased just how easily you can be both comfy and chic. If you own a cashmere cape, that is.<\/p>\n
