Following Meghan Markle and Prince Harry\u2019s tell-all interview with Oprah<\/a>, in which the couple accused a member of the royal family of raising racist concerns about the color of their son\u2019s skin<\/a>, Buckingham Palace responded with a statement<\/a> directly from the Queen, noting that on the specific topic of racism, \u201crecollections vary.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Though the couple openly discussed how differently they were treated by the British press in comparison to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, when it came to the question about race, they refused to address specific instances of racism from family members and refused to name who was involved. (Prince Harry later confirmed it wasn\u2019t the Queen or Prince Philip). <\/span><\/p>\n

After the palace missed its opportunity to condemn racism\u2014and furthermore, alluded to the conversation not having happened in the way Markle and Prince Harry remember, news presenter Gayle King has added her voice. Commenting on Markle\u2019s racism allegations specifically, Oprah\u2019s best friend said: \u201cI think Meghan has plenty of receipts, meaning she\u2019s been keeping track of things,\u201d <\/span>The Sun <\/span><\/i><\/a>reported.<\/span><\/p>\n

King\u2019s comments echo those from Markle\u2019s friend Janina Gavankar<\/a>, whose appearance on the UK\u2019s <\/span>This Morning<\/span><\/i> cou<\/span>ntered Buckingham Palace\u2019s statement about \u201cvarying recollections\u201d of events. \u201cThough their recollections may vary, ours don\u2019t,\u201d she said on the show.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAfter reading this short statement that came out from Buckingham Palace today, I felt two things,\u201d she continued. \u201cOne side, I thought: I am so thankful that they are finally acknowledging the experience. But on the other side, I am well aware that the family and the staff were well aware of the extent of it, and though their recollections may vary, ours don\u2019t, because we lived through it with them.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThere are many emails and texts to support that,\u201d she added.<\/span><\/p>\n

Gavankar also spoke about the bullying claims leveled against Markle, which resurfaced right before the Oprah interview. \u201cI have known [Markle] for 17 years and I have seen the way she regards the people around her and the people she works with, and I can say she is not a bully,\u201d she said.<\/a> \u201cBut I can also say that I am personally glad people are doing their due diligence because I also know why someone had to leave, and it was for gross misconduct.<\/span><\/p>\n

She finished with, \u201cThe truth will come out, there are plenty of emails and texts about that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Markle, Prince Harry, I think I speak for all of us when I say, we would love<\/em> to see these
