(Photo by Pete Summers\/PA Images via Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>On Monday morning&#8217;s <em>Good Morning Britain,<\/em> host Piers Morgan said he didn&#8217;t believe the<a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/articles\/meghan-markle-suicidal\/\"> Duchess of Sussex when she told Oprah Winfrey she had suffered from suicidal ideation<\/a> before she and Prince Harry relocated to Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>The news host&#8217;s comments were immediately slammed online with people noting how damaging it is to people who are suffering from mental health conditions to see someone publicly accuse Markle of lying. The segment resulted in over 40,000 formal complaints and <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/articles\/piers-morgan-quits-good-morning-britain\/\">the resignation of Morgan<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Now, it has been revealed the Duchess was one of the thousands who voiced concern.<\/p>\n<p>Markle reportedly filed a complaint to the broadcaster\u2019s CEO raising concerns over Morgan\u2019s wording toward mental health, the broadcaster\u2019s Royal Editor Chris Ship revealed on Twitter.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">So &#8230; the Duchess of Sussex formally filed a complaint to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ITV?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\">@ITV<\/a> on Monday.<br \/>It\u2019s thought to have been sent to the broadcaster\u2019s CEO.<br \/>Meghan raised concerns about how <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/piersmorgan?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\">@piersmorgan<\/a>\u2019s words affect the issue of mental health and what it might do to others contemplating suicide <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/rA09dOQ4GN\" target=\"_blank\">pic.twitter.com\/rA09dOQ4GN<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Chris Ship (@chrisshipitv) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/chrisshipitv\/status\/1369613175533019136?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\">March 10, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Of Morgan&#8217;s departure, an ITV source told <i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/tvandshowbiz\/14289939\/piers-morgan-quit-gmb-refusing-apology-meghan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Sun,<\/a><\/i> \u201cPiers was not going to back down. He was asked to make an apology but refused. He says he is entitled to his opinion and is always going to stand by it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>They continued, &#8220;When he refused to apologize, there was a standoff. And ultimately it ended with him telling producers he would not host the show anymore.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Morgan\u2019s exit from\u00a0<i>Good Morning Britain<\/i>\u00a0was announced by ITV in a statement: \u201cFollowing discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave\u00a0<i>Good Morning Britain<\/i>. ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During her <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/articles\/meghan-markle-oprah-interview\/\">conversation with Winfrey<\/a>, which aired in the U.S. on Sunday evening, Markle said after months of attacks from the British press, she began to have <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/articles\/meghan-markle-suicidal\/\">thoughts of suicide<\/a>. \u201cI just didn\u2019t see a solution. I\u2019d sit up at night, and I don\u2019t understand how all of this is getting churned out,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Eventually, it became overwhelming enough that she confided in Prince Harry. \u201cI was really ashamed to say it at the time and ashamed to have to admit it to Harry especially, because I know how much loss he\u2019s suffered, but I knew that if I didn\u2019t say it, that I would do it. I just didn\u2019t want to be alive anymore.
