(Photo by Max Mumby\/Indigo\/Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/articles\/meghan-markle-oprah-interview\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">As part of the explosive and shocking revelations<\/a> made public in her tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan Markle has revealed she had suicidal thoughts while living inside the palace walls and that the institution denied her mental health support.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was ashamed to admit it at the time, and admit it to Harry because of how much loss he\u2019s suffered, but I knew that I didn\u2019t want to be alive anymore,\u201d Markle told Oprah. \u201cThat was a very real, clear, constant thought. [Harry] just cradled me. I went to the institution and said I needed help, and I was told it wouldn\u2019t be good for the institution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought it would have solved everything for everyone, right?\u201d, she continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo were you thinking of harming yourself? Were you having suicidal thoughts?\u201d Oprah asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes, this was very clear. Very clear and very scary. I didn\u2019t know who to turn to in that,&#8221; Markle responded.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Meghan Markle reveals she contemplated suicide <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/OprahMeghanHarry?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\">#OprahMeghanHarry<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/2oIinTUIaI\" target=\"_blank\">pic.twitter.com\/2oIinTUIaI<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Chicks in the Office (@ChicksInTheOff) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ChicksInTheOff\/status\/1368742590007439366?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\">March 8, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The situation draws comparisons to that of Prince Harry&#8217;s mother, Princess Diana, who was bullied and shunned by both the Royal Family and the British media.<\/p>\n<p>Markle says she repeatedly asked to go to a hospital to help her mental health but was denied. It was one of Princess Diana\u2019s friends who instead came to her aid.<\/p>\n<p>The decline in both Markle and the Prince&#8217;s mental health was just one of a slew of reasons which spurred the couple&#8217;s decision to step back from royal life. Speaking to <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/articles\/prince-harry-james-corden-interview-royal-family\/\">James Corden last week,<\/a> the Duke said, \u201cIt was a really difficult environment as I think a lot of people saw. We all know what the British press can be like. It was destroying my mental health.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo I did what any husband and what any father would do which is \u2018I need to get my family out of here\u2019 but we never walked away,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>Markle also detailed how members of the <a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/articles\/meghan-markle-oprah-interview\/\">institution were concerned about how dark Archie&#8217;s skin<\/a> may be before she gave birth to him.
