Monday, March 1, 2021:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>As I write this story, I’m bundled in a blanket with a virtual fireplace streaming on my television from YouTube. Even though it’s on the warmer side for a winter day<\/a> in Manhattan, relaxing hygge vibes are the mood for the last day of a very busy virtual\u00a0<\/span>Milan Fashion Week<\/span><\/a>. And as it turns out, comfort is also the vibe for Fall-Winter 2021, as evidenced at Karl Templer’s Ports 1961 runway show, where models hit the catwalk in cozy knits, faux furs, and sleek leathers that took the form of statement outerwear, day-to-night apparel, and accessories.<\/span><\/p>\n

The luxury fashion house’s FW21 womenswear collection is best summed up in the label’s words from a press release: “intensely tactile.” In theory, such a feat sounds hard to accomplish amid our virtual-first era, but a quick perusal of the 33-piece collection proves each silhouette is made for touching. Elaborately braided sweaters texturally contrast wool skirts of the same hue. Knits and outerwear feature shaggy wool for staying warm and all-leather ensembles look slick and cool. Fuzzy faux fur handbags resemble the go-to blanket you cozy up with to watch your latest Netflix binge.<\/p>\n

Templer notes that in designing his FW21 lineup, his team took the coronavirus pandemic into consideration. More specifically, they sought to define what power dressing looks like in a post-pandemic<\/a> era. \u201cIt\u2019s a journey back to dressing again, with more of a focus on the essential rather than the frivolous,\u201d Templer said in an interview with WWD<\/em><\/a>. \u201cThere\u2019s a sense of warmth, but also a strong attitude, and silhouette.\u201d<\/p>\n
