The first presents clothes rooted in wearability\u2014riffs on simple wardrobe classics that cater to women still working from home. The second leans toward the fantastical, presenting optimistic clothes for a future in which impractical, unapologetically <em>fabulous<\/em> clothes are all the rage.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_187316\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-187316\" style=\"width: 1200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignfull -width -width -width\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-187316\" src=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/ezgif.com-gif-maker-7-2.gif\" alt=\"Giorgio Armani Fall Winter 2021\" width=\"1200\" height=\"676\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-187316\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Image: Armani<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/articles\/persona-grazia-a-deep-dive-with-mr-giorgio-armani\/\">Giorgio Armani<\/a>\u2014both an optimist and a pragmatist\u2014leaned toward the latter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span class=\"quotation-style\">Presenting his Giorgio Armani collection in Milan overnight, Mr. Armani leaned heavily on his well-established knack for nonchalant Italian glamour.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>There were sumptuous velvet trousers, beautifully embroidered evening jackets, embellished capes, and chiffon gowns adorned with flowers.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_187317\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-187317\" style=\"width: 1024px\" class=\"wp-caption alignfull -width\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-187317 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/graziamagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/00064-Giorgio-Armani-RTW-Fall-21.jpg\" alt=\"Giorgio Armani Fall Winter 2021\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1536\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-187317\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Image: Armani<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>As one of the longest-established fashion houses in Italy, Armani\u2014who at 86 is still his brand&#8217;s CEO and creative director\u2014is a man uniquely equipped to understanding the way changing social mores impact how women dress. He first launched Armani in 1975, and has weathered recessions, drastic shifts in celebrity culture (he remains among the most prevalent designers come red carpet season), and, most recently, changing attitudes toward sex and power.<\/p>\n<p>Weathering the pandemic may prove his greatest challenge to date\u2014though he revealed a pioneering level of common sense when he became the first designer to cancel his runway show when the virus broke out in Milan this time last year. He believes that the appeal of beautiful clothing will transcend our difficult cultural moment, saying in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vogue.com\/fashion-shows\/fall-2021-ready-to-wear\/giorgio-armani\" target=\"_blank\">post-show interview<\/a>: &#8220;I predict that when we are allowed to pursue our lives in a more normal way, there will be a resurgence of dressing-up as people socialize again.
