Telfar Clemens <\/span><\/a>is<\/span><\/i> the moment. Or as his good friend, Solange Knowles ,wrote for <\/span>TIME Magazine<\/span><\/i><\/a>, he \u201cis the time, the spirit, and the conversation.\u201d Clemens was named to <\/span>TIME\u2019s <\/span><\/i>second annual <\/span>TIME100 Next list<\/span><\/a>, an expansion of its TIME100 franchise highlighting 100 emerging leaders who are shaping the future. The 36-year-old designer upended the fashion industry\u2019s penchant for exclusivity capturing a community that sells out his signature elegant totes in seconds. <\/span>Seconds.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cI created the bag security program so that people could be able to get the thing they wanted,\u201d Clemens tells TIME<\/em> of his response to bots programmed to buy up the brand\u2019s inventory as soon as it was restocked. \u201cWe just really wanted to know, like, if we actually just gave people the chance to get this bag, how many bags would we sell in one day?\u201d Clemens admits the program was very experimental, but he didn\u2019t want getting one of his bags to be stressful.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
