Long before the 2006 film, <\/span>The Devil Wears Prada, <\/span><\/em>and the fictional Miranda Priestly<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span><\/em>there was American fashion designer, Ken Scott<\/a>, also lovingly known as the “the gardener of fashion.” In the 60s and 70s, he lived in Milan, where he designed ultra-floral, colorful prints loved by everyone from Audrey Hepburn to Jackie Kennedy<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

In honor of the late designer, whom Gucci’s own\u00a0Alessandro Michele<\/a> admires dearly, the luxury fashion house’s creative director partnered with the Ken Scott Foundation to reimagine his archived prints as part of the retro and eclectic aesthetic of the Gucci Epilogue Collection. In a press statement, Michele touches on his appreciation for Scott’s work that inspired his desire to create the Ken Scott x Gucci<\/a> collection.<\/p>\n

“He mapped out flowers with romanticism and flowers into pop culture.<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>He treated flowers like shop signs; he multiplied them, turned them into something that stood out.”<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Michele translated Scott’s famed floral prints into both men’s and women’s fashion, including everything from the label’s most popular handbag styles to apparel, like shoes, maxi dresses, and suits. To ensure that Scott’s aesthetic was reflected in the collection’s campaign, the team created customized wallpaper, curtains, tablecloths, and cushions out of the prints used in the Gucci Ken Scott collection. As the brand puts it, the result was a wonderfully “overwhelming world of intense colors and clashing prints.” A look at the imagery, photographed by Mark Peckmezian, below.<\/p>\n
