I am no stranger to spending an excessive amount of time scouring Vestiaire Collective<\/a> for one-of-a-kind vintage finds\u2014or simply because it’s Friday, and digital window shopping has become a hobby of mine while social distancing. If you’re new to the global marketplace, it’s a hub where fashion lovers can buy and sell luxury, pre-owned products, thus promoting the concept of a circular economy in the fashion industry.<\/p>\n

Starting on Tuesday, February 16, Alexander McQueen<\/a> helped unveil Vestiaire Collective’s new “Brand Approved” program. How it works is that the label reaches out to a select group of clients to offer the chance to sell their pieces from the brand. Once their product is authenticated, the customer will be issued a credit note to purchase new items from select Alexander McQueen stores.<\/p>\n

Once processed by Vestiaire Collective, the Alexander McQueen pieces will carry an external NFC tag giving prospective new buyers access to information confirming the authenticity of the piece. The pieces will be available to purchase on a dedicated “Brand Approved” page on the Vestiaire Collective app and site, which is already full of options for consumers to peruse, straight from the Alexander McQueen runway through the years.<\/p>\n

“Alexander McQueen is committed to a move towards circular practice, both in the design studio and in the development of new business models,” says Emmanuel Gintzburger, CEO of the British fashion label. “We are delighted to be the first house in the world to collaborate with Vestiaire Collective on its ‘Brand Approved’ program and to give beautifully crafted pieces a new story. We are confident that our customers will be equally excited to take part in an initiative that challenges a linear economy and sets a new and more sustainable standard for the future.”<\/p>\n
