Television network CBS<\/em> has announced today that Oprah Winfrey will host a primetime television special with Prince Harry<\/a> and Meghan Markle<\/a>. Slated to air on March 7, it will be the first time the couple has appeared in a long-form interview since stepping down as Senior Royals in 2020.<\/p>\n

“Winfrey will speak with Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, in a wide-ranging interview, covering everything from stepping into life as a Royal, marriage, motherhood, philanthropic work to how she is handling life under intense public pressure,” a statement from CBS<\/em> says. “Later, the two are joined by Prince Harry as they speak about their move to the United States and their future hopes and dreams for their expanding family.”<\/p>\n

Despite a reported<\/a> bidding war for access to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, it appears Oprah was always a shoe-in for the honor. Winfrey attended the couple’s wedding at Windsor Castle in May 2018 and is now neighbors with the couple in Montecito, California. Sources for Vanity Fair<\/a> <\/em>believe the forthcoming interview was not approved by Buckingham Palace officials prior to the CBS<\/em> agreement, expectedly fueling more controversy between the Sussexes and the Royal Family.<\/p>\n

The news comes just 24 hours after the couple announced they are expecting a second child<\/a>.<\/p>\n
