Hello, and welcome to Do It Yourself (At A Distance)<\/em>: a mini series helping you solve beauty issues from the safety of home. Of course, an at-home manicure or blonde hair refresh isn’t going to change the world, but if it makes you feel even just a little bit better better, it’s worth doing. Basically, we’ll be borrowing tips from our editors as well as experts to see you through quarantine without tears, tantrums or over-tweezed brows. Today, we’re looking at hair colour specifically (cuts come later, but please don’t touch your bangs in the interim). So if your roots are giving you anxiety, take solace in a few of the pointers below.<\/p>\n

Blonde<\/span><\/p>\n

Blonde hair is a catch-22 because it’s the first shade to turn awry but also the easiest in terms of at-home maintenance. You might already own a purple toning shampoo, but that can only see you so far. What you need is a powerful colour-treating mask that will give you a more quantified result. If your coloured brunette hair is looking dull or orange, you need a booster product to tone down unsightly warmth and add back shine. ROOTS<\/span><\/p>\n

If you simply cannot live with your current root situation but are scared to try anything too permanent, Christophe Robin does an incredible, temporary gel. Made up of 92 per cent natural ingredients, it’s ammonia free and will conceal greys for about a fortnight (depending on how often you wash). Leave on roots and massage in the excess as you rinse for shiny, refreshed colour. If your roots are too far gone for temporary colour, try a simple, effective permanent colour on the roots only.
