I have been trying to keep up my daily coffee purchase purely to inject some much-needed love (and $5 – I drink oat milk like any normal North Bondi-er) into the hospitality industry, which has taken such an enormous hit during this tragic pandemic.<\/p>\n

I have also been trying to shop as local as possible; buying free-range chicken from the local butcher (who despite his old age is sending me text messages to keep me updated and now doing home delivery), going to independent grocers who are actually amply stocked compared to the big chains (and far less anxiety-inducing), and of course buying bread from Sydney baking mecca, Iggy’s (who are also offering a local-ish delivery service). I even made a conscious effort to buy Australian-owned “Thank You” hand wash, so I can sanitize while supporting my community.<\/p>\n

But this idea of “buying local” should extend past your local grocer. The fashion industry too has been severely impacted, with local independent brands needing our support more than ever.<\/p>\n

So in case you’ve forgotten, a list of some of our finest homegrown talents (and those across the pond in New Zealand). A gentle reminder, if you will, should you wish to purchase a new pair of slides or cozy cashmere cardi in the next few months – and beyond.<\/p>\n
