An executive from HBO Max, the platform set to produce the upcoming reboot of Sex And The City<\/em><\/a>, has spoken about how the series plans to address the absence of Samantha. As widely reported, the beloved character of Samantha will not be returning to the revival, And Just Like That…\u00a0<\/em>due to Kim Cattrall<\/a>‘s unwillingness to take part.<\/p>\n

Fans couldn’t help but wonder… how would the writers deal with Samantha’s departure? Now HBO Max\u2019s chief content officer, Casey Bloys, has indicated to TV Line<\/em><\/a> that despite rumors, Samantha won’t be killed off. Rather, Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte will simply drift apart from Cattrall’s character.<\/p>\n

“Just as in real life, people come into your life, people leave,” Bloys explained. \u201cFriendships fade, and new friendships start. So I think it is all very indicative of the real stages, the actual stages of life\u2026. They\u2019re trying to tell an honest story about being a woman in her 50s in New York. So it should all feel somewhat organic, and the friends that you have when you\u2019re 30, you may not have when you\u2019re 50.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bloys says the series, which will be helmed by Sarah Jessica Parker<\/a> \u2013 who plays Carrie \u2013 and producer Michael Patrick King, won’t be trying to recreate the original show. “They\u2019re not trying to redo Sex and the City<\/em>,\u201d he said. \u201cThey\u2019re not trying to say that these characters are reliving their 30s. It is very much a story about women in their 50s, and they are dealing with things that people deal with in their 50s.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cynthia Nixon<\/a> and Kristin Davis<\/a> will be back alongside Parker to reprise their roles as Miranda and Charlotte respectively, but little is known about who else from the previous show will return.<\/p>\n
