“A classic bob is my personal favorite, as it’s timeless and will make your hair appear thicker,” Rivera says. A single, clean line at the ends is what makes silver look dense instead of thin.<\/span><\/p>\n

Blunt cuts look especially fashionable on evenly toned gray. Hairdresser Casey Coleman suggests a chin-length, sleek bob worn with a deep side part, a shape that reads instantly polished.<\/span><\/p>\n

  • Neutralize yellow tones.<\/b> “With any type of gray hair, it is good to have a purple shampoo on hand to help neutralize unwanted yellow tones,” Rivera says. Once a week is usually enough.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Add moisture.<\/b> Gray hair can be more porous and dry, West notes, so a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner make a visible difference to shine.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Book regular trims.<\/b> Short cuts lose their shape faster than long ones, and the shape is the whole point.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Ask for texture, not just length.<\/b> Layers or a razor finish keep a short cut from looking helmet-like.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
