Others sneak in through a celebrity’s off-duty wardrobe until, one day, you realize everyone is doing it. Anne Hathaway has spent most of 2026 quietly pushing one of those details, and it lives at the bottom of her jeans.<\/span><\/p>\n

The actress keeps turning up her hems. On screen, in street style and on promo days, the cuff has become her signature denim finish, and it is exactly the fall update most of us can copy in ten seconds.<\/span><\/p>\n

It Started With Andy Sachs<\/b><\/h2>\n

The first hint came on screen. In The Devil Wears Prada 2, released in May, Hathaway’s Andy Sachs wears vintage<\/a><\/strong> light-wash straight-leg Levi’s, cuffed at the ankles, with a brown suede jacket and snakeskin-print boots, according to Marie Claire. It was one of the film’s most talked-about looks, partly because it felt so wearable.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the film’s press run in April, she also leaned into imperfect hems in real life. Who What Wear spotted her in New York in wide-leg, frayed-hem jeans with a cropped black blazer and pointed black pumps, proof that relaxed denim and polished shoes make a chic pair.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Fall Version: Wide Cuffs and Double Denim<\/b><\/h2>\n

By September, the look had evolved. On September 10 in New York City, Hathaway wore medium-wash relaxed jeans with wide cuffed hems, a collared denim button-up and black fisherman flats, finished with a delicate choker, as reported by Us Weekly. The outfit was simple, a little nostalgic and very easy to replicate.<\/span><\/p>\n

Us Weekly described the oversized cuff as the cool-girl detail taking over denim this fall, a small twist that makes a classic wash look current.<\/span><\/p>\n

Why the Cuff Works Right Now<\/b><\/h2>\n

Full-length jeans that pool over shoes can look heavy, especially with flats. A cuff fixes that instantly. It shortens the leg just enough to show your ankle or the top of your shoe, adds a little structure to a relaxed fit and draws attention to footwear, which matters in a season of statement flats, loafers and boots.<\/span><\/p>\n

It also works across shapes. On straight-leg jeans, a slim cuff feels classic. On relaxed or barrel jeans, a wider cuff, around two inches, feels more fashion-forward and balances the volume.<\/span><\/p>\n

How to Wear It Like Anne<\/b><\/h2>\n

Start with a straight or relaxed pair in a medium or light wash. Fold the hem once or twice, keeping the cuff neat and even on both legs. If your jeans are cropped already, one fold is enough.<\/span><\/p>\n

Then choose the shoes. Flats, like Hathaway’s fisherman style, or loafers keep it casual. Ankle boots work as long as the cuff sits just above the boot. Pointed pumps make it dressier, as she proved in the spring.<\/span><\/p>\n

For the full effect, try double denim: a denim shirt in a slightly different wash, tucked or left loose. Add a fine necklace and a structured bag, and you are done.<\/span><\/p>\n

Anne Hathaway, 43, has made the cuff her quiet denim<\/a><\/strong> signature this year.
