In an interview with GQ magazine, released yesterday, the Duke of Sussex spoke of his desire to reconcile with his brother, Prince William and father, King Charles III.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWith everything else that’s going on in the world, the most important thing is to reconcile. That’s the key point,\u201d he said. \u201cThere’s enough drama in the world and enough drama in people’s lives than to continue with issues with family.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Last week, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, made their first official public appearance since moving back to the UK after six years in the United States.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Royal Rifts<\/h2>\n

Interviewer Zach Baron asked him whether he grieved his complicated familial relationships. To which Harry responded, \u201cOf course.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The Duke spoke of how relatable it is to have sibling disagreements and broken relationships, how people wonder whether they\u2019ll work it out and how that can help others to work out their own difficult relationships.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWell, some people don’t want it to work out. I want it to work out,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Harry\u2019s spokesperson later said that the phrasing “some people don’t want it to work out” was intended as a general comment, and not directed to any member of his family.<\/span><\/p>\n

GQ asked whether Harry thought he could repair \u201cthis wound\u201d; to which he replied, \u201cyeah, of course\u2026scars stick around forever. But what your perception is, and what your mindset is to those things that have happened, certainly letting go of the past, that’s something that I would encourage everybody to do.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Back on British Soil<\/h2>\n

Harry and Meghan moved to the United States in 2020, after resigning from official royal duties. Three years later, Harry published his memoir, Spare<\/em>, which detailed the conflicts and tensions between him, his brother, father and step-mother, Queen Camilla.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the interview, Harry also explained his intentions behind their return to England, telling GQ that it was because of opportunities for his family, including placing his two children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, into a UK school.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBeing able to put the kids in a British school has meant a lot to me. I didn\u2019t know how important it was to me,\u201d he said. \u201cI think for kids at seven and five to be able to have that comparison and to have two completely different cultural experiences is so important today.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Harry also said that he wanted to \u201c be back closer to my family and to be back on UK soil for longer than a few days or a week here or there.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
