© 2025 Netflix, Inc.

Finished every Harlan Coben thriller on Netflix and wondering what to watch next? A new German psychological mystery might be exactly what you need. Released on October 13, The Trap delivers six episodes of family secrets, unreliable memories, and unexpected twists.

Based on Melanie Raabe’s bestselling novel, the series follows a reclusive author who devises an elaborate plan to confront the man she believes murdered her sister. And while it isn’t officially connected to Coben, its dark atmosphere and suspenseful storytelling should feel familiar to fans of Fool Me Once and Stay Close.

What Is Netflix’s The Trap About?

At the center of the story is Lisa Konrad, a successful novelist who hasn’t left her home in nearly a decade. Years earlier, she witnessed the murder of her younger sister, Anna, and the trauma left her unable to face the outside world.

Everything changes when Lisa spots crime journalist Robert Lenzen on television. Convinced he is the man responsible for Anna’s death, she decides to take matters into her own hands.

Rather than contact the police, Lisa writes a novel inspired by her sister’s murder and invites Robert to her secluded home for an interview. Her plan? Use the meeting to expose him as the killer.

But as memories, imagination, and reality begin to overlap, viewers are left questioning what actually happened.

Why Harlan Coben Fans Will Love This Psychological Thriller

Like Netflix’s most popular Coben adaptations, The Trap builds its mystery around a devastating family tragedy and secrets that refuse to stay buried.

Lisa is an ordinary woman thrust into extraordinary circumstances, determined to uncover the truth despite the risks.

The series also plays with unreliable memories and shifting perspectives, making it increasingly difficult to distinguish fact from fiction.

And with just six episodes, each running approximately 43 to 52 minutes, it’s an ideal choice for viewers looking for a suspenseful weekend binge.
