The full process, from prep to final pass<\/b><\/h2>\n

Using baking soda on carpet is not as simple as dumping a box and hoping for the best. According to Stein, you should limit the treatment to once every three months. More frequent use risks excess powder building up under your carpet threads, which can cause its own problems over time.<\/span><\/p>\n

Before you begin, Stein recommends taking a few safety precautions. Wear gloves and a mask, and make sure your space is properly ventilated. Baking soda is a fine powder, and when it becomes airborne you can accidentally breathe it in and irritate your lungs, especially if you have asthma or allergies. Clear the area completely by moving furniture off the carpet. If a piece is too heavy to relocate, Stein suggests having someone else lift and hold it while you clean underneath.<\/span><\/p>\n
