Makeup artist Ernesto Casillas<\/strong> matched the register with a bronzed, sunlit complexion, and the effect recalled Botticelli<\/strong>‘s Pallas and the Centaur<\/em>, where the goddess wears her braids twisted through her hair like a living crown, wound and rewound with an elegance that appears accidental. Five centuries later the reference has translated into a phone screen held at arm’s length, which is its own form of immortality.<\/p>\n

How to Recreate It at Home<\/strong><\/h1>\n

Begin with texture rather than polish, since the entire architecture depends on hair that has something to grip. A cone curler gives the waves their irregular, slightly wild bend, and a texturizing spray at the roots supplies the volume that keeps the crown from collapsing by dessert. Take two sections at the front, twist each one back on itself in a two-strand rope, then draw them across the crown and pin them where they meet, leaving the join deliberately imperfect. The remaining length stays down and undisturbed. Loosen the braid with your fingertips once it is secured, tugging until it looks lived in, and pull a few strands loose around the face for that wispy separation Moreno mentioned. Finish with a light hairspray held far enough away to preserve the movement.
