On Saturday, July 25, Emma Roberts<\/strong> married actor Cody John<\/strong> in an intimate outdoor ceremony at his family’s estate in the Idaho valley, with a rushing river providing the soundtrack and only their nearest and dearest looking on. Among them, one very famous aunt. Julia Roberts<\/strong>, who arrived with husband Danny Moder, was reportedly spotted wiping away happy tears once the vows were done. A chapel-length veil floated behind her, while a lace voilette, worn pushed back like a headband, added the kind of heirloom detail costume designers dream about. The inspiration came straight from her shelves. “I’m obsessed with antique books and treasure hunting,” she confessed during her final fitting, explaining that she wanted her passion for old ephemera to shine through the design. Mission accomplished. The finished gown looked like a treasure lifted from a very chic attic, softly nostalgic and entirely her. The evening had a second act. For the after-party, Roberts swapped her gown for a two-piece pulled from the designer’s Fall 2004 archive, a black Chantilly lace corset worn with a hand-cut, calf-grazing skirt in layered silk organza. “I love the idea of wearing black for the after party,” she declared, true to a couple with a taste for the unexpected, and she prized the piece for looking as though it might date back a century or have left the atelier yesterday.
