What Vivienne\u2019s New Court Filing Actually Says<\/h2>\n

Court documents filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court show that Vivienne is petitioning to change her legal name from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie. The 18-year-old lists her reason as \u201cpersonal,\u201d a catchall that California judges routinely accept for adult name changes.<\/p>\n

A hearing is set for Nov. 2, when a judge can approve the change if there are no successful objections. For most adults this is a quick, bureaucratic moment. For Vivienne, it will be the legal rubber stamp on something fans have already noticed: she has been moving away from her father\u2019s surname in public for a while.<\/p>\n

Back in May 2024, when The Outsiders<\/em> opened on Broadway, theater nerds clocked a detail in the Playbill. The teen co-producer listed alongside Angelina Jolie was credited as \u201cVivienne Jolie.\u201d No hyphen, no Pitt. She walked the Tonys carpet with her mother in a coordinated navy look that felt more Lower East Side cool girl than Hollywood nepo baby, already signaling the brand she prefers.<\/p>\n

Her middle name, Marcheline, is another deliberate choice. It honors Angelina\u2019s late mother, Marcheline Bertrand, the woman who inspired Jolie\u2019s own humanitarian streak and fiercely protective parenting.
