Simone Biles shared some scary news on her Instagram stories Saturday,\u00a0 June 6.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not one to normally share\u00a0things\u00a0like this because I value privacy in today\u2019s age. But almost dying wasn\u2019t on my bingo card earlier this week,\u201d\u00a0she wrote.<\/p>\n

What We Know And Do Not Know About Simone Biles’ Health Scare<\/h2>\n

Here is what is confirmed. Biles was hospitalized earlier in the week for a sudden health issue serious enough that she describes it as \u201calmost dying.\u201d She has now been discharged and is recuperating in bed. She shared that the ordeal was especially frightening because her husband, NFL safety Jonathan Owens, was \u201cin Indy for practices\u201d with the Indianapolis Colts at the time. She has publicly thanked friends and family who checked in on her and says she has spent the week resting.<\/p>\n

Just as important is what she has not said. Biles has not disclosed the cause of the emergency, any diagnosis, or what treatment she received. She has promised only that she will \u201cexplain sooner or later.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, she famously withdrew from several finals after developing the \u201ctwisties,\u201d a terrifying loss of spatial awareness mid-air. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t feel comfortable, I have no idea where I am, but I\u2019m twisting, praying I land on my feet,\u201d Biles said on a 2024 episode of Call Her Daddy<\/i>. She described feeling like she was fighting her own body and mind just to get through skills, and stepped away because she refused to risk a catastrophic injury.<\/p>\n

Then came Paris 2024, where she won three gold medals and one silver and still paid a price. \u201cI went back to the village, took the elevator, and my body literally collapsed,\u201d Biles told French outlet L\u2019\u00c9quipe in 2025, adding that she was sick for 10 days afterward. Even a casual sprint in the garden with friends left her aching for three days. None of that is drama; it is the physical receipt for a decade spent pushing the sport to new limits.<\/p>\n

There has been no official word on whether this medical emergency will affect her training schedule, upcoming competitions, or long-term plans.
