Jennifer Lopez is set to perform at Joe Biden’s presidential inauguration in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, January 20.<\/p>\n

According to a statement from the Presidential Inaugural Committee<\/a>, the “Waiting For Tonight” singer and her fianc\u00e9, Alex Rodriguez, “have been outspoken about the disproportionate impact of the coronavirus pandemic in Latino communities and the need to contain the virus, rebuild the economy, and unify the country.”<\/p>\n

The high-profile couple showed their support for Biden<\/a> ahead of the presidential election when they joined him and his wife, Jill, in an effort to encourage Latinos to vote<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 51-year-old, who just released her new music video for her single “In The Morning,” joins the previously announced star-studded lineup of Justin Timberlake, Demi Lovato, Jon Bon Jovi and R&B singer Ant Clemons. Lady Gaga is also tapped to sing the National Anthem at the historic event.<\/p>\n

The powerhouse performances will be televised as part of a 90-minute program Celebrating America, hosted by Oscar-winning actor, Tom Hanks. The special will air live across all major networks at 8:30 p.m. ET\/PT. Viewers can also tune in to the Presidential Inauguration Committee’s social media channels in addition to certain streaming and cable platforms.<\/p>\n

President-elect Biden<\/a> and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris<\/a> will take the oaths of office the morning of the 20th from the Capitol. Other participants at the swearing-in ceremony will include Father Leo J. O\u2019Donovan, a Biden family friend, who will deliver the invocation; Andrea Hall, president of the International Association of Firefighters Local 3920, who will lead the Pledge of Allegiance; Amanda Gorman, the first National Youth Poet Laureate, who will perform a poetry reading; and Reverend Dr. Silvester Beaman, another longtime Biden family confidante, who will offer the benediction.<\/p>\n

But between the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic and security threats following the deadly insurrection by Donald Trump<\/a> supporters on the U.S. Capitol on January 6,\u00a0 Inauguration Day will look much different from those in previous years. The National Mall will be closed off to the public and people are encouraged to stay home and support the event virtually. Plans for a traditional inauguration parade have also been scrapped.<\/p>\n

Breaking from tradition<\/a>, Trump, who on January 13 became the first U.S. president in history<\/a> to be impeached twice, previously announced<\/a> be would not be attending Biden’s inauguration. Vice President Mike Pence is expected to appear, as are all living former presidents and their spouses \u2014 with the exception of Jimmy and Rosalynn
