When Matthieu Blazy stepped into the Grand Palais on Monday night to unveil his first collection as Chanel\u2019s new artistic director<\/a>, the message was immediate: this was fashion made to be felt \u2014 not just photographed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Even the soundtrack \u2014 anchored by the 1990s anthem \u201cRhythm Is a Dancer\u201d \u2014 felt like a wink to a generation rediscovering the joy of movement.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Spring\/Summer 2026 collection<\/a> did just that. There were plenty of familiar motifs \u2014 camellias, pearls, the iconic tweed \u2014 but rendered with a new sense of ease. The silhouettes were softer, lighter, more fluid. Gone was the rigid polish of the Viard era; in its place, a quiet confidence that felt more spontaneous than staged.<\/span><\/p>\n

Where Coco once said<\/a>, \u201cFashion should die and die quickly, in order that commerce may survive,\u201d Blazy seemed to answer with a counterpoint: fashion should breathe.<\/span><\/p>\n

Perhaps the most symbolic moment came when model Awar Odhiang \u2014 styled in a voluminous, feather-flecked skirt paired with a simple silk T-shirt \u2014 broke formation at the finale<\/a>, applauding Blazy as he stepped onto the runway. <\/span><\/p>\n
