Selena Gomez returned to the Upper West Side this week\u2014on set, at least\u2014offering a first glimpse at the fashion of Only Murders in the Building<\/em><\/a>‘s fifth season. Filming in New York City on June 9, the singer-actor teased two distinct looks that hint at the evolving aesthetic of her character, Mabel Mora<\/a>, whose wardrobe has become a character of the show in its own right.<\/p>\n

The first look, from back in May, saw Gomez lean into a stealthy heist style with a long-sleeve turtleneck layered under a faux leather shirt-dress by Nanushka, opaque black tights, heeled boots by Paul Andrew and a roomy quilted Prada tote. Later, she was photographed wearing a bright blue leather coat over the top.<\/p>\n

Now, as the cast returns to filming scenes on the streets of New York City, Gomez was pictured again in two leather looks over the weekend. Dressed in a noir, faux-leather coat by A.W.A.K.E. Mode, studded with silver snap buttons all over, Gomez\u2019s Mabel looked ready for another day of sleuthing\u2014this time with a polished edge.<\/p>\n

Later, she switched gears, buttoning up a tailored navy jacket by Nili Lotan, an Alex Perry<\/a> maroon pinstripe skirt and sheer, printed tights. Navy blue suede boots by Jeffrey Campbell also featured white stripes on the side, and dangling silver earrings completed the look, evoking a slightly moodier prep aesthetic.<\/p>\n

Behind the scenes, Emmy-nominated costume designer Dana Covarrubias<\/a> continues to bridge Gomez\u2019s off-screen elegance with Mabel\u2019s boldness.<\/p>\n

While not much has been shared regarding season five’s plot, photos from the show<\/a>‘s set promise even more sartorial intrigue\u2014and A-list cameos<\/a>, too. Expect appearances from Ren\u00e9e Zellweger<\/a>, Diane Wiest, Bobby Cannavale and T\u00e9a Leoni alongside the beloved trio of Gomez, Steve Martin and Martin Short, and Meryl Streep.<\/p>\n
