Zendaya and Anna Sawai<\/a> generated many a fashion headline<\/a> last week when they both appeared at the 2025 Met Gala<\/a> in near-identical outfits. While Zendaya appeared at the event in a sleek white suit and wide-brimmed hat ensemble by Louis Vuitton<\/a>, first-time Met attendee Sawai made her appearance not long after in an uncannily similar look by Christian Dior<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Cameras captured Law Roach<\/a>\u2014Zendaya\u2019s stylist and frequent collaborator\u2014reacting<\/a> to Sawai\u2019s entrance in real time at the gala.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am dying \u2018cause she\u2019s got on Zendaya\u2019s look,\u201d he said to an interviewer. \u201cI\u2019m so glad we came early.\u201d<\/p>\n

A week later, Roach revealed that there was no ill will on either side and provided some insight into the inspiration behind both looks.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think people thought there was some kind of disappointment on our end,\u201d said the stylis<\/a>t. \u201cIt was two people paying homage to two different people: Yoko [Ono] being Anna\u2019s inspiration and Diana [Ross] and Bianca [Jagger] being ours.\u201d<\/p>\n

He went on to express disappointment at the two women being pitted against each other by some commentators.<\/p>\n

“It just happened,” he noted. “They both looked great, and they\u2019re both beautiful women. I mean, I hate the way that people try to pin women or stylists [against each other]. It was just all great.\u201d<\/p>\n

Zendaya hasn\u2019t commented on the accidental twinning. However, Roach confirmed that she sent flowers to Sawai to congratulate her on her first Met. Sawai was just as gracious about the matter, taking to her Instagram<\/a> stories to playfully comment, \u201cCelebrating the spirit of Black dandyism and Zendaya.\u201d<\/p>\n

She later added in a post<\/a>, \u201cI know a lot of people have a lot to say, and trust me, I admire her too \ud83e\udd23\ud83e\udd0d But most importantly, I\u2019m so happy with my look, so please be happy for me too.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the end, the looks may have been closely related, but the truth was really in the details. With Zendaya\u2019s fit and flare pants as well as the addition of a vest, different from Sawai\u2019s wide-legged trousers and white gloves, fans are sure to appreciate the ingredients that went into
