In a collaboration that sees the meeting of three American icons, Coach<\/a> has announced its fantastical new collection that honors the late Keith Haring’s artistic takes on Mickey Mouse<\/a>. The artist, who was famed for his pop art<\/a> and graffiti in the 80s, will have his work reimagined and emblazoned on a number of the house’s ever-popular bags.<\/p>\n

The collection is imbued with Haring’s downtown street culture aesthetic while maintaining Disney’s inherent whimsy \u2013 think structured leather shoulder bags finished with Mickey’s ears, in an instantly recognizable ode to the beloved Disney character. Haring, who idolized fellow pop art visionary, Andy Warhol, was passionate about democratizing art, making this partnership with Coach all the more fitting.<\/p>\n

To launch the collection, Coach tapped Alessandro Simonetti to shoot some major faces who will front the campaign. Friends of the house Kaia Gerber<\/a> and Cole Sprouse<\/a> \u2013 who was once a Disney Channel wunderkind himself \u2013 star in the spirited shoot, alongside rising models Xiao Wen Ju, K\u014dki, and Myles O’Neal.<\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes the best design comes from the most unlikely juxtapositions, and I can\u2019t think of a cultural clash that brings me more joy than Mickey Mouse and Keith Haring,\u201d Coach Creative Director, Stuart Vevers, said of the collection in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cAhead of its time when it was first made, this art feels so timely\u00a0today\u00a0as we can celebrate and appreciate the diverse work of great creators whoever they may be, without social boundaries. As my collections over the years have shown, I love Disney and I love Keith Haring, so this collaboration makes for my ultimate treat.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The bags have just launched on our shores and we’re truly spoiled for choice with the selection of totes, top handle and shoulder options, backpacks, and belt bags, as well as mini wear-everywhere zippered leather slings. Coach wanted to invite customers across the world into the experience, so the brand launched Disney Mickey Mouse x Coach Exploratorium \u2013 an interactive digital touchpoint that offers the audience an exclusive view into the rich history of Haring and Mickey. Those inclined can even imagine their own Haring-inspired street art, watch never-before-seen videos of Gerber and K\u014dki, and of course, shop the collection<\/a>.<\/p>\n
