Famously, Kourtney Kardashian is the only one of her three sisters to have never been married or accepted an engagement, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. This in-depth analysis will look more towards a reasoning why her relationship with Travis Barker is so different, and possibly what led her to a decision to finally tie the knot with a boyfriend.

Ever since the Kardashians hit our TV screens in 2007, the romantic chronicles of Kourtney, Khloé and Kim have been one of the most talked about topics in the pop cultural sphere. For Kourtney, we’ve watched with particular awe as her romantic journey has been the most plagued with hardships, especially when you bring Scott Disick into the equation.

So we brought it upon ourselves to create a timeline of her past relationships and put them into context with how we view her in 2021, and what makes Barker the one to beat when it comes to the longevity of her relationships.

Scott Disick — 2006-2015

So, this is probably the relationship that most people think of when they think of the early aughts era of the Kardashians, back before they really took off. This relationship is arguably more popular and more well-known than her current relationship with Travis Barker, but that’s probably only because of the tumultuous nature of it and all of its turbulence.

Kardashian and Disick started dating in 2006 after meeting at a party hosted by Girls Gone Wild creator Joe Francis.  Much of their 9-year relationship was documented over the run time of KUWTK, and while it made for good TV, the seriousness of their issues should not be understated. There were multiple accusations of cheating on Disick’s side, apparently over 17 allegations in total, as well as Disick’s ongoing battle with substance abuse, and it affected their relationship, big time.

Despite being together for nine years, when Disick proposed to Kardashian she told him to put the ring aside, and from there, they never talked about it again. according to a report from Page Six, Kourtney cited that “his behavior [with money and partying] is exactly why she never married him … He doesn’t really have a job beyond his club appearances and paid Instagram posts and hasn’t given up drinking.” Together, they co-parent three kids, Mason, Penelope and Reign.

They eventually called it quits for good in 2015, but that’s not the end of the story by a long shot. Apparently Disick is still hung up on Kardashian, after leaked messages from him trashing Kourtney and Travis’ relationship earlier this summer, as well as the news that he’s “beside himself” at the news of their engagement. I think it’s safe to say that Kourtney dodged a bullet choosing not to marry him.

Justin Bieber (Maybe?) — 2015

This one is mainly pure speculation, but there was a time when Kourtney and Justin were reportedly seen together on multiple occasions, nights out and hanging out with Kourtney’s kids.

When asked about the rumors in question, Justin joked “He said: “I’m being used, man. What can I say? … No, no, but for real, she’s great. I’ve known [the Kardashians] for years.”

A source revealed to US Weekly at the time “Justin and Kourtney have been hooking up since late August, early September. Scott feels she’s doing this to get back at him and get revenge.” Which, given Scott’s recent actions, he seems to be quite obsessed with her, even when she seemingly pays him no mind.

So who knows? It’s a fun possibility to ponder, but definitely nothing serious ever happened here, that’s for sure.

Younes Bendjima — 2016-2018

Ranking up there with Scott, this relationship isn’t the most favored of Kourtney’s over the years. People were very quick to criticize this pairing, and maybe they had a reason to, let us explain.

Kourtney and model Younes Bendjima initially started dating in late 2016, where they had met a couple months previous during Paris Fashion Week. While the relationship seemed good at first, things quickly turned sour when Younes reportedly commented something very judgemental and frankly, misogynistic under one of Kourtney’s Instagram pictures.

The picture in question was a photo of Kourtney in a bikini in a field, with the caption “Don’t be shady, be a lady,” and it was a completely innocent, nice picture.

But Younes took it upon himself to feel threatened by the photo, commenting underneath ““[That’s] what you need to show to get likes?” but then quickly deleted it, but not before Kourtney’s fans got a look at it. The two split soon after in 2018.

Luka Sabbat — 2018-2019

Now, this one is kind of ambiguous regarding the nature of their relationship, while Luka swears the two were “definitely not dating,” the two sure did spend a lot of time together. They met for the first time in 2018 at a Jenner family BBQ, and in the stint that was their extended series of outings, they spent time together on vacations and various shopping trips.

A source told E! News: “There is still a lot of chemistry between Kourtney and Luka and they never fell out of touch, but nothing serious is going on. Kourtney is not dating anyone and is truly having fun.”

So while it’s up in the air whether or not the two actually dated, it definitely seemed like the two were growing close.

Travis Barker & Her first engagement — Present

If you’re looking for a comprehensive timeline of Kourtney and Travis’ relationship, GRAZIA took the liberty of documenting their first moments up to their engagement, but let’s talk about what makes this one so different.

First and foremost, she actually said yes to a proposal. This is the first time ever for Kourtney, so it shouldn’t be taken lightly what that means for her love towards Barker. Also to take into consideration, she has never been so public, so vocal and so affectionate with a boyfriend before. Not that she necessarily has tried to hide the others, but this time she seems to be legitimately proud to be with this specific man.

All of this considered, I think we can predict that Barker is Kourtney’s happily ever after, they seem to give each other plenty of autonomy while still retaining the doe-eyed love of teenagers, a perfect combination for an ever-lasting connection.
