New York Fashion Week came and went in a flash, but certain beauty moments are still at the front of our minds, namely the hyper glass skin as seen at Eckhaus Latta.
Shiny, glossy skin has been the beauty look du jour for years now (the trend recently reignited by the ever-luminous Hailey Bieber) but makeup artist Fara Homidi – who creatively directed the beauty look – took it to new heights. Instead of slick highlighters and face gloss, Homidi smoothed what looked a little bit like a translucent peel-off face mask over a handful of model’s faces. The result? Wet, sheeny skin that looked as if it were mid-facial.
As per an interview with Vogue, Homidi apparently did layer a face mask to achieve the finish (Freeman Beauty Infusion Revitalizing Peel-Off Mask, specifically). While not completely conducive to real life, it served as proof that glass skin isn’t going anywhere any time soon. And perhaps gave us permission to wear a face mask to the gym/grocery store/coffee shop more often.
Remaining models still had a glow about them, but one that was achieved using cult US beauty brand Saie, including the Sunmelt Bronzer gel and Hydrabeam Concealer.
Hair was directed by Tamara McNaughton for Oribe, and featured natural texture, braids, mullet cuts and super long extensions in unexpected places.
Overall it was playful, boundary-pushing and served as great inspiration. Scroll on for a few of our favorite beauty looks.
