In the 80s they had Bananarama, but it’s 2020 and we can proudly claim the rights to Moschinorama: an all girl rock band made up of Bella and Gigi Hadid, Kaia Gerber, Imaan Hammam and Adut Akech. The full punk rock 80s fantasy is brought to you by Moschino as part of its latest campaign, and sees lead singers Gigi and Kaia, guitarist Imaan, saxophonist Bella, and Adut on keyboard, playing a rendition of It’s A Cool World by Karla Devito. And as if the short film clip wasn’t iconic enough, the entire performance is introduced by none other than the legendary Tyra Banks.
Shot by Steven Meisel, it’s the perfect amalgamation of all that is Moschino: big hair, geometric silhouettes, bold prints, lurid color and excessive jewelry. Pat McGrath was on makeup, while Guido Palau constructed the teased ponies, frizzy volume and perm-style curls. The entire thing appeared straight out of another decade, only this time, it’s on Instagram.
