UPDATE 7.16AM, JULY 23 AEST: Kim Kardashian is requesting compassion for husband Kanye West’s recent behavior, speaking for the first time about his bipolar disorder. Her statement comes after the rapper posted a string of now-deleted tweets post his presidential rally in Charleston on Monday night.

“Those who are close with Kanye know his heart and understand his words sometimes do not align with his intentions,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories.

“As many of you know, Kanye has bi-polar disorder. Anyone who has this or has a loved one in their life who does, knows how incredibly complicated and painful it is to understand. I’ve never spoken publicly about how this has affected us at home because I am very protective of our children and Kanye’s right to privacy when it comes to his health. But today, I feel like I should comment on it because of the stigma and misconceptions about mental health.”

“Those that understand mental illness or even compulsive behavior know that the family is powerless unless the member is a minor. People who are unaware or far removed from this experience can be judgmental and not understand that the individual themselves have to engage in the process of getting help no matter how hard family and friends try.”

“I understand Kanye is subject to criticism because he is a public figure and his actions at times can cause strong opinions and emotions. He is a brilliant but complicated person who on top of the pressures of being an artist and a black man, who experienced the painful loss of his mother, and has to deal with the pressure and isolation that is heightened by his bipolar disorder.”

“I kindly ask that the media and public give us the compassion and empathy that is needed so that we can get through this. Thank you for those who have expressed concern for Kanye’s well being and for your understanding.”

On Tuesday night, West, 43, claimed on Twitter that he had been considering divorcing Kardashian, 39, since November 2018.

“I’ve been trying to get divorced since Kim met with Meek at the Warldolf for ‘prison reform,'” tweeted West. “Meek is my man and was respectful That’s my dog Kim was out of line I’m worth 5 billion dollars and more than that through Christ But ya’ll ain’t listen to MJ and now ya’ll believe them???”

Kardashian had met with and consulted rapper Meek Mill during a criminal justice reform summit in November.

Now, one insider confirms to People that the “divorce had been in the process for several weeks.”

West has also referred to his mother-in-law as “Kris Jong-Un.”

ORIGINAL STORY, 8.21am JULY 22 AEST: The only thing more watchable than respected author Susan Orlean’s drunk tweets over the weekend is Kanye West’s outbursts post his problematic Charleston Presidential rally.

On Monday night, the rapper posted a series of bizarre tweets aimed at his wife, Kardashian, and mother-in-law Kris Jenner. “Kris, don’t play with me,” West tweeted. “You and that calmye are not allowed around my children. Ya’ll tried to lock me up.”

West also referred to his seven-year-old daughter, North, in another tweet. “I put my life on my God that North’s mom would never photograph her doing playboy and that’s on God.” He continued, “I’m at the ranch…come and get me.” [The ranch being the family’s $14 million vacation home in Wyoming.]

Perhaps the most stinging attack though came after Kardashian’s reported attempts to fly to her husband and get him some help.

“Kim was trying to fly to Wyoming with a doctor to lock me up like on the movie Get Out because I cried about saving my daughter’s life yesterday,” West tweeted.

West told attendees at the rally that Kardashian “brought North into this world when I didn’t want to.” “She stood up and protected that child…My mom saved me life. My dad wanted to abort me. There would have been no Kanye West because my dad was too busy,” he said. “I almost killed my daughter! I almost killed my daughter!”

His comments indicated his possible opposition to emergency contraceptives – and a complete disrespect for his wife and family’s privacy.

“Kim is completely devastated right now,” a source reportedly close to the reality star and beauty mogul told Entertainment Tonight. “Kim has always been public about everything in her life, but with Kanye and him being bipolar, she has always respected to keep that more private and within the family.”

“Kanye tweeting about the family and painting her as trying to ‘lock him up’ has upset Kim because that wasn’t her intention, and she only ever wants the best for her husband.”

“Kim is shocked that Kanye spoke about North at the rally,” a source says to People. “She is furious that he shared something so private.”

The rapper first revealed he had bipolar disorder in 2019. A source told Page Six that West is “super lovely and connected.” But during an episode, “it’s terrible.” “The sad thing is that when he recovers, he realizes what he’s done and he apologizes,” they said.

“I don’t know if they can survive [this],” the source added.

More to come. In the interim, you can catch up on all of West’s outlandish comments made at the rally, on topics such as slavery, religion and the millions he plans to pay new mothers as the President of the United States.
