Earlier this month, Emily Ratajkowski gave birth to her first child with husband Sebastian Bear-McClard, named Sylvester Apollo Bear, or Sly for short.
After spending a few weeks inside getting used to life with their new arrival, the couple took Sly for a walk around New York City over the weekend with their dog, a Husky-German Shepherd mix named Colombo in tow.
Just as everyone was interested in Gigi Hadid’s postpartum style, so too were we watching to see how—or if—Ratajkowski’s wardrobe would be updated now she’s a mother.
Refreshingly, on her first outing with a stroller as her main accessory, the 29-year-old model didn’t wear flashy designer clothes or any of the usual outfits young model mothers are papped in. Instead, she opted for a pair of blue denim jeans, sneakers, a black top and a relaxed fit blazer: clothes any new mom would wear on the weekend.
Given Irina Shayk looks like she’s just stepped off the runway almost every time she’s photographed picking her and Bradley Cooper’s daughter up from daycare, and Hadid is almost never without some kind of designer outfit when she steps outside with her daughter, Kai—Louis Vuitton monogrammed fleece hats, heeled boots and head-to-toe in Wardrobe.NYC in one week alone—Ratajkowski’s low-key look was a welcome surprise.
Last week, Ratajkowski offered fans an intimate look at her giving birth to Sly on March 8. “In between pushes/first moments with Sly,” she captioned a March 17 post with a collage of pictures from her birthing process. “Life!”
Since giving birth, Ratajkowski has also been crowdsourcing, using her community of 27 million for mom tips, such as the best postpartum books, which she shared to her stories after asking for recommendations from her followers. The list includes titles such as, The Fourth Trimester, First Forty Days, Cribsheet—which Ratajkowski noted beside, “I love Emily Oster so am especially excited to read this one.”
If this first outfit is anything to go by, we’re looking forward to welcoming in a more casual, attainable model mom style, thanks to Emily Ratajkowski and baby Sly.
