Jana Kramer has announced she’s filing for divorce from her husband of six years, Mike Caussin. In an Instagram message titled “It’s time,” the country music singer, 37, laid out her heart about walking away from her relationship with the 34-year-old former NFL tight end.
“As I try to make sense of a reality I never wanted to believe could be possible again, those words have now become a reality,” she wrote. “I’ve fought y’all. I’ve loved hard. I’ve forgiven. I’ve put the work in. I’ve given everything I have, and now I have nothing else to give. It’s time.”
Kramer—who played Alex Dupre on One Tree Hill— also said she isn’t letting the end of her marriage change her outlook on future possibilities. “Please know that I still believe wholeheartedly in marriage, love, and rebuilding,” she noted.
However, she continued, “I just can’t fight any longer. It’s time to heal. Thank you for all the love, heart, and support, in many ways you have fought on this journey alongside me, and for that I am grateful.”
The “Beautiful Lies” singer concluded, “I’ll always encourage you to continue the good fight, but you can’t fight it alone.”
The couple’s split follows years of relationship issues.
Kramer and Caussin began dating in August 2014, but she left him after just weeks and announced he had cheated. They got back together and got married in May 2015. He again reportedly had an affair and the two separated in August 2016 but reconciled weeks later.
In their book, The Good Fight: Wanting to Leave, Choosing to Stay, and the Powerful Practice for Loving Faithfully, Caussin said he had only dated a few women in his life.
“Most of my relationships can be more described as ‘talking to,’ which essentially means we were sleeping together but I never committed enough to get my feelings involved,” he wrote. “And when I did commit, I inevitably cheated. I couldn’t be alone.”
Kramer and Caussin had two children together — daughter Jolie Rae, 5, and son Jace Joseph, 2.
