When accusations about Armie Hammer came to light early this year, at first it sounded like the Call Me By Your Name actor was guilty only of cheating on his wife, Elizabeth Chambers, and of having some left-field sexual fetishes… like an obsession with cannibalism.

He quickly became the butt of jokes and the subject of conversations around kink-shaming. But just as quickly, far more serious accusations poured in, ranging from sexual assault to physical abuse. The actor was swiftly recast in upcoming projects and dropped from his talent agency, and, after denying the allegations, retreated to the Cayman Islands where his ex-wife lives with their two children.

Now, according to PEOPLE, Hammer has been dating again. The publication reports the actor has been spending time with a local from the island, who works as a dental hygienist, since earlier this year.

“He is dating a dental hygienist on the island,” a source says. “They were recently on a ‘staycation’ out East, the other side of the island from where they live.”

The insider added the pair “seem happy and comfortable with each other,” and that they “seem to have lots of friends and she introduces him to any friends who haven’t met him before when they are out.”

In March, Effie, the 24-year-old woman behind the Instagram account House of Effie which first anonymously shared allegations against Hammer, appeared in a press conference alongside attorney Gloria Allred to accuse the actor of rape and physical abuse in incidents she alleges happened during a four-hour period in 2017.

Shortly after the press conference, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed Hammer was being investigated in a sexual assault case that was opened on February 3rd, 2021.

Hammer denied the allegations in a statement to PEOPLE, saying the relationship with Effie was “completely consensual, discussed and agreed upon in advance, and mutually participatory.”
