Highly anticipated and long awaited, The Batman‘s release date draws closer. Until then, we have the newly dropped trailer to hold us over. Dubbed The Bat and The Cat, the dramatic and action-packed teaser sees Robert Pattinson as the tortured and ridiculously wealthy Gotham City vigilante Bruce Wayne, aka Batman.

Set to be released early next year, the forthcoming film was originally scheduled for June of 2021 but was postponed due to COVID-19 related setbacks. The latest chapter in the DC universe, Matt Reeves’s production follows Pattinson’s Batman on a vengeful journey to defeat Paul Dano’s The Riddler alongside the equally villainous Penguin played by an unrecognizable Colin Farrell. Set amidst an interesting power dynamic between a possible new ally or adversary Selina Kyle (Zoë Kravitz), the stories only intensifies.

From Ben Affleck and Christian Bale, to Val Kilmer, George Clooney, and Michael Keaton, Pattinson follows a seemingly never ending list of actors to portray the iconic hero. With Zoë Kravitz in the same boat as the ever-complicated Catwoman, she joins a league of leading ladies all their own, from Anne Hathaway and Halle Berry, to Michelle Pfeiffer and Eartha Kitt.

The Batman is set to be released on March 4, 2022.
