Despite early reports that Meghan Markle<\/a> was planning an A-list soir\u00e9e to be held at her Montecito home for her 40th birthday, it was later revealed she\u2019s be having a low-key day<\/a> with Prince Harry and her two young children. Markle did not fail to commemorate the big occasion however and instead announced a \u201cchallenge\u201d for her close friends.<\/p>\n

Taking to the couple\u2019s Archewell Foundation website, the Duchess of Sussex released a video with comedian Melissa McCarthy to announce 40\u00d740<\/a>, \u201ca global effort encouraging people around the world to commit to giving 40 minutes of their time to support women going back to work,\u201d her office said in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor my birthday, I have asked 40 friends, activists, athletes, artists, and world leaders to help kickoff a global effort by contributing 40 MINUTES OF MENTORSHIP to support women re-entering the workforce,\u201d Meghan said on the site. \u201cWith this time, I hope they each help someone advance a professional life on her own terms, and, I hope that they inspire countless others to give 40 minutes of their time as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

In true work from home style, Markle delivered the message via a laptop precariously stacked on a number of books. She also dressed down for the occasion and wore a cream sweater, tank top, lounge pants with the chic addition of brown suede Manolo Blahnik pumps<\/a>. Prince Harry\u2019s cousin, Princess Eugenie, shared Markle\u2019s birthday message on Instagram urging her followers to join the movement.<\/p>\n
