Founded in 1997 by Yasuko Furuta, TOGA ARCHIVES is a Tokyo-based independent label known for creating sensual and experimental takes on their everyday wardrobe-essentials, but this time, the brand is adding a touch of avant-garde detailing to their brands most signature pieces. Marking its forthcoming capsule collection with H&M<\/a>, two powerhouses have created a unique collection filled with easy-to-wear separates perfectly suited for the everyday<\/a> women and men on the go.<\/p>\n

The campaign features looks styled by Jane How, including photography by Johnny Dufort and architectural backdrops by London’s Barbican Estate. Each piece of the collection is a TOGA favourite. From hybridised trench coats to deconstructed shirts, pliss\u00e9 skirts and uncomparable tailoring, leaving the collection with an unexpected touch of modern garments for the everyday fashion enthusiast.<\/p>\n

When it comes to womenswear, the go-to pieces consist of wool-twill trench coats, oversized blazers, bugle beat detailing and TOGA’s trademark cut-outs and unique embellishments. For accessories<\/a>, the collection showcases playful cowboy heels, studded detailing and dainty pumps, adding the ultimate touch of glamour to any look.<\/p>\n

Creative advisor at H&M, Ann-Sofie Johansson, shares, “We are huge fans of versatile design at H&M, which is why Yasuko Furuta’s ingenious pieces for TOGA are so appealing. Her signature cut-outs, for example, can be set against bare skin or paired with a sequined underlayer to glamorous effect. We are thrilled to be able to bring her playful but intellectual style to our customers and look forward to the stylish outfit combinations they will create.”<\/p>\n

For mens, the TOGA ARCHIVES X H&M collection showcases TOGA’s signature blue striped shirts and transparent V-neck jumpers, with an innovative twist, allowing its pieces to be reworked and available in an array of unique colourways and cuts.<\/p>\n

Yasuko Furuta, founder and creative director of TOGA, shares, “Fashion can communicate ideas and interests immediately and non-verbally. With TOGA, I have explored the concept of the customer having agency over what they are wearing, a decision that conveys their personality instantly: they can choose to have bare skin underneath a hole in their skirt or put trousers underneath. I would love for this H&M collection to introduce that idea to a global audience.”<\/p>\n
