Last week, GRAZIA\u2019s contributing beauty editor Kate Lancaster wrote a dedication to ageless sophistication on the Cannes film festival red carpet<\/a>. Of all the chintz and tulle that floated past the photographer\u2019s pen, it was indeed the more mature actresses \u2013 Helen Mirren, Andie MacDowell, Jodie Foster, Tilda Swinton<\/a> \u2013 who caught our eyes, each appearing really confident within themselves, each taking style risks, and each having a damn good time.<\/p>\n

Smiling, laughing, blowing kisses and waving for the lenses, they each emitted ease and<\/em> elegance, a tricky formula that those 20-something posey models are yet to grasp. A late addition to Kate\u2019s ode to such enduring elegance is Sharon Stone. We need to talk about Sharon Stone.<\/p>\n

Styled by celebrity stylist Paris Libby<\/a>, the 63-year-old stepped out in three Dolce & Gabbana gowns that definitely deserve more press than they received. The first (as seen at the premiere of A Felesegam Tortenete \/ The Story Of My Wife<\/em>), was an off-the-shoulder powder blue gown \u2013 cinched in at the waist by way of a boned corset \u2013 with florals pinned sporadically atop voluminous layers of tulle. We couldn\u2019t keep our eyes off Stone, she looked simply fabulous.<\/p>\n

The second D&G made an appearance on July 16 at the amfAR Gala in Cap d\u2019Antibes. Stone embodied a woman of liberty in the lavender halter neck as evidenced by her carefree poses in these pictures. Now, are you beginning to see what I mean? I\u2019m in my 30s and I only hope to be as confident as Stone when I\u2019m older.<\/p>\n

There was a costume change at the same event; an Alberta Ferretti slimline black gown with plastic paillettes.<\/p>\n

And then, on the last day of the festival, Stone stole the carpet again, this time at the premiere of OSS 117: From Africa With Love<\/em>. In a one-shouldered, white floor-length D&G gown with a sparkling bodice, the Basic Instinct<\/em> star proved yet again that women over 50 can actually have fun (shock horror!) and steal the show from the many insecure amongst us.<\/p>\n
