Rihanna is purposefully unpredictable. From the polarising mullet-turned-pixie cut<\/a> (I’m still, however, not convinced to make the chop) to her elegant date-night style, the beauty mogul is leading the trends. After all, she has been named as the poster girl for post-pandemic style<\/a>. For her latest nighttime look in New York City, the artist put a risqu\u00e9 twist on the little back dress.<\/p>\n

The 33-year-old attended the popular restaurant Carbone overnight wearing an oversized Vaquera lace slip dress<\/a>, usually intended as lingerie. Rihanna took a leaf from Madonna’s book and cinched in the waist, added a lace bra, layered jewellery (including Briony Raymond’s Jumbo Pisces Medallion<\/a>) and string pearls and finished the ensemble with simple black pumps.<\/p>\n

The underwear-as-outerwear is certainly nothing new as displayed by the “Material Girl” pop star but it has recently seen a resurgence thanks to the likes of Bella Hadid, Irina Shayk and Dua Lipa.<\/p>\n

Hadid introduced us to the celebrated London-based, Albanian designer Nensi Dojaka (it even prompted Sophie Turner<\/a> and Emily Ratajkowski<\/a> to opt for the brand’s pieces). Shayk convinced us<\/a> to wear low-rise jeans (gasp) with a sheer strapless corset and Dua Lipa brought back noughties with an exposed Fenty G-string<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Rihanna has frequented the headlines in recent weeks for not only her chic style cues. Instead she’s sent the media into a frenzy after the confirmation of her relationship with A$AP Rocky.<\/a> The couple made a rare appearance together at New York City’s Barcade last month. It came after Rocky (real name Rakim Mayers) told GQ<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>the “Good Girl Gone Bad” singer was “the one”.<\/p>\n
