If Jonathan Anderson<\/a>\u2019s Dior debut<\/a> this time last year was a conversation with the House\u2019s rich history, his Spring\/Summer 2027<\/a> collection looked towards something lighter\u2014quite literally. On the first day of Paris Fashion Week, air became an almost tangible material, worked through lace, silk mousseline and organza, while tailoring was softened into flou. Throughout the collection, transparency gradually shifted to opacity and back again, with clothes moving through the wind as if the breeze itself were an intentional part of the look.<\/p>\n

The meticulous Dior ateliers transformed summer staples through technical virtuosity. Think dresses rendered with pleats-on-pleats, asymmetric florals, voluminous hems, and a more demure evolution of last season\u2019s Marie Antoinette-inspired tutu skirts. Fog drifting through the venue only heightened the sense of movement.<\/p>\n

As he continues to develop his unique Dior vocabulary, Anderson returned with signatures in new forms: flower-like silhouettes, iridescence and cropped silhouettes. Long scarves, draping, and cascading gemstone-and-fabric earrings introduced asymmetry, a recurring theme throughout. Sheer suiting and metallic five-pocket trousers extended ideas from the men\u2019s collection that previewed earlier this year, while embroidered trompe l\u2019oeil scarf motifs blurred the line between accessory and garment.<\/p>\n

A knack for accessories has always connected the Maison with Anderson, and this season’s offering provided their own playful punctuation. Flower photographs appeared on square-toe heels, alongside a new Dior Bow Sandal and petal-soled Cigale. Bags ranged from updated Double and Initial Hobo styles to a biker-inspired design with Cannage stitching and D-I-O-R hardware. Most whimsically, a silver minaudi\u00e8re took the form of the w\u00e9nw\u00e1n walnut that inspired the show invitation.<\/p>\n

After a year of grand historical gestures and fresh perspectives on classic codes, Anderson\u2019s Dior is becoming increasingly solidified as its own defiant era. As always, technique does the heavy lifting, but it’s never too serious.<\/p>\n
