In the world of designers, there are those who create clothes, and then there are those who build worlds like it\u2019s a science-fiction film. And for the latter, there\u2019s a new designer on the loose that nobody\u2019s talking enough about; the Germany-based Kurdish-Iranian designer, Aziz Rebar.<\/p>\n

For Rebar, fashion exists somewhere between craftsmanship, engineering and imagination. It\u2019s where a garment becomes more than something to wear, but a masterpiece of art that tells a story.<\/p>\n

Fashion was never a distant world for Rebar. In fact, the couturier was “surrounded by fashion” growing up, he told\u00a0SWARM<\/em> magazine<\/a> in a previous profile.<\/p>\n

It was his father in particular who taught him the tricks of the trade, as Rebar accompanied him to his work as a traditional tailor, to his studio in Iran, an experience that shaped his early understanding of craftsmanship.<\/p>\n

After moving to Germany at the age of six with his brother, Rebar initially pursued mechanical engineering but never stopped creating; explaining to SWARM<\/em>, “In my free time and to finance my studies, I continued to sew clothes for myself and friends.”<\/p>\n

Ultimately, it was fashion that called him back. The University of Design in Pforzheim noticed him and offered him a place to study fashion design. “So I followed my passion, dropped out of my mechanical engineering studies and began to study fashion design,” said Rebar.<\/p>\n

Now, the designer has caught the eye of the elite fashion crowd, presenting at Paris Couture Week for the very first time.<\/p>\n

Unveiling the ‘AETHER’ collection under his eponymous label, Rebar showcased his distinctive vision at Paris Couture Week, joining the conversation of designers redefining what modern couture can be. His presentation reflected the same codes that have become synonymous with his work: dramatic structures, intricate details and a fascination with transforming the human form through fashion.<\/p>\n

And while this may be his couture week debut, the Iran-born creative’s designs have previously found their way onto some of music\u2019s most fearless performers. His sculptural designs have been worn by Lady Gaga, including looks created for her ‘Mayhem Ball’, where his otherworldly silhouettes perfectly matched the tour\u2019s darker, gothic aesthetic.<\/p>\n

His designs have also caught the attention of Bj\u00f6rk, the artist known for transforming fashion into a form of visual storytelling.<\/p>\n

What makes his work so captivating is the tension between softness and strength. His works often explore the meeting point between delicate fabrics and architectural shapes, creating silhouettes that feel almost otherworldly. He approaches each creation like a sculpture; carefully constructed, deeply personal and rooted in craftsmanship \u2013 a true work of art.<\/p>\n
