If you’ve been paying attention to Qatar’s creative scene lately, you’ll know it\u2019s become something of a hotspot. Whether that\u2019s the annual Fashion Trust Arabia Awards<\/a> or the newly launched Art Basel Doha<\/a> \u2013 Qatar is a creative hub on the rise, and it doesn\u2019t seem to be slowing down any time soon.<\/p>\n

Take this month, for example. A new generation of designers, artists, and founders is building something genuinely exciting \u2013 and they’re all gathering under one roof.<\/p>\n

Doha Festival City’s Sustainable Futures returns on April 15th and 16th, and this year it feels more considered than ever. From talks to masterclasses and a curated pop-up from some of DFC’s most-loved retailers, pre-loved luxury finds courtesy of Pre-Porter Qatar, and \u2013 the bit the GRAZIA team is most excited about \u2013 the Emerging Voices showcase, a platform dedicated entirely to spotlighting the Qatari and Qatar-based talents quietly reshaping the future of fashion.<\/p>\n

Under the Emerging Voices umbrella, designers from M7 and Scale7 are set to come together, as well as a lineup of independent Qatar-based brands, including Vandella, SewnThreads, SR by Sonali Raman, and Gills Manjulakshmi, just to name a few.<\/p>\n

With a focus on craftsmanship built to last, organic fabrics, low-batch production and recyclable packaging, these are brands being built with intention towards a better future in the world of fashion.<\/p>\n

As affirmed by Vandella’s Dana Al Saify, her brand’s approach to sustainability runs through everything from the fabrics she sources to how the pieces are packaged. While Husnaa Malik of SewnThreads talks about versatility as a sustainability practice \u2013 pieces designed to transition from day to evening, worn again and again rather than discarded.<\/p>\n

Also new for this year’s Emerging Voices, artworks from Intajat will be featured. Intajat is a cultural platform and online shop founded by Sheikh Khalifa Al Thani that champions Qatari and Qatar-based artists through curated exhibitions and community-led collaborations. Featured artists include Nasser Al Kubaisi, Yuliya Drazdovich, Sheetal Dandekar, Lina Al Ali, and Amira Al-Namla.<\/p>\n

\u201cIntajat is built on the belief that sustainability begins with valuing what already exists, starting with Qatar as our foundation,” Sheikh Khalifa Al said. \u201cFor us, sustainability means supporting and circulating existing artworks and objects, connecting audiences and collectors with meaningful regional pieces without the need for constant new production. <\/p>\n

“By anchoring this approach in Qatar and expanding outward, we preserve cultural narratives, reduce excess, and create a more conscious ecosystem where art is experienced, collected, and sustained over time. Through this method, Intajat contributes to a more thoughtful and sustainable future for both artists and the wider community. Our involvement in Sustainable Futures at Doha Festival City reflects this vision: fostering a culture where art, sustainability, and community go hand in hand.”<\/p>\n

Sustainable Futures will also feature a pop-up trail with DFC retailers, including Polo Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Charlotte Tilbury, Fenty Beauty, Lush, &Other Stories, Lacoste, Maje, and more, which will each be presenting their sustainability credentials in their own way. And if you’ve been meaning to give pre-loved luxury a proper look, Pre-Porter Qatar’s debut at Sustainable Futures is as good a reason as any.<\/p>\n

Sustainable Futures runs from April 15 to April 16 at Doha Festival
