A younger Anya Taylor-Joy, bottle in hand, making her first truly independent beauty purchase: a vial of Miss Dior. “I remember going to school and feeling really powerful in it,” she recalls, while speaking exclusively to GRAZIA. That’s the through-line. Not just glamour, not just fashion – but the quiet, subversive power that comes from a choice made for yourself. It’s a feeling she’s spent a career curating, both on-screen and off, and it’s the exact energy Dior has packaged into its new Addict line.

For the first time, Peter Philips, Dior’s Creative and Image Director for Makeup, and Perfume Creation Director Francis Kurkdjian have built a collection in tandem – lip oils and fragrances designed to be worn together. The goal was to capture a modern kind of radiance – what they call the “Glow”. But as Taylor-Joy embodies, glow isn’t about highlighter. It’s a state of being. It’s the confidence that lets you swipe on a bold lip without a mirror, or choose a scent because it pleases you, and you alone. Her career has been a powerful ascent, cemented by her captivating screen presence and a singular ability to inhabit complex roles – all underscored by a style that blends the ethereal with the audacious. It’s this very essence – the mix of confidence, irreverence, and allure – that makes her the perfect muse for Dior Addict.

FROM FIRST SPRITZ TO GLOBAL MUSE

That sense of personal empowerment, of beauty as an internal force, is a powerful thread that runs through Taylor-Joy’s relationship with the brand. Her connection deepened during her first Dior show, which she describes as a “visceral experience” thanks to “a beautiful exposition of horses”, as well as the then-creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri “taking a lot of inspiration from Spanish culture”.

This was matched by an almost tangible sense of consideration. “The way that the house treated every one of their guests felt so special, tailored to their unique sensibilities,” she recalls. It left her with a clear, quiet conviction: “I remember thinking, ‘Ooh, if I have a choice in who I get to work with, I really hope it’s Dior’.”

That choice, when it came, felt natural. What holds her inspiration is the brand’s unwavering fidelity to a simple, radical idea. “It all really stays true to Mr. Dior’s first sentiment of wanting women to feel beautiful, just for themselves,” she observes. “Yes, it is an outward expression, but he really cared about how the individual felt in the clothes. I think you can feel that.”

This distinction – between how something looks and how it makes you feel – is everything. It’s also what makes her the perfect voice for Dior Addict. The line has always been bold and irreverent, but with Taylor-Joy, that spirit becomes internal. It’s less about a look you adopt and more about an innate confidence you carry. It’s the glow from within, finally meeting its perfect tools.

THE EVOLUTION OF A BEAUTY ICON

Taylor-Joy’s journey with beauty hasn’t always been this intertwined with luxury. Her early years painted a very different picture. “It’s evolved massively,” she laughs. “I grew up a huge tomboy. I had no awareness of the beauty sphere of skincare or anything.” Her career, however, brought a newfound appreciation for self-care. “I got to a point where I realised it was important for me to start taking care of my face because it’s a huge part of what I do,” she explains. The transformation, she notes, was inspired by the passionate experts around her. “I feel so lucky that I got to learn from people who are the best in their industry. I find passion contagious, so if I’m around very passionate people around a certain subject, it naturally rubs off on me. Spending so much time with the Dior beauty and fashion teams has really shaped how I look at the world. Now, I love my morning and nighttime routines. I never, ever skip them!”

This devotion to ritual finds its perfect partner in the new Dior Addict collection. Before becoming a face of the line, Taylor-Joy admits she was captivated by its unique visual identity. “I remember the images – there was always something about Dior Addict that had an irreverence to it. It felt fresher and sly than other campaigns. There was a wink inherent in the images that I remember.”

That inherent wink is precisely what Taylor-Joy connects with in the “Dior Addict spirit.” “Again, I think it’s an irreverence,” she affirms. “It’s quite joyful. There’s a feeling of being extremely confident in your skin, and I think we all want a little bit more of that.”

Kurkdjian’s task was to create the scent equivalent of that glow. His approach was clever: he looked for the hidden fruit within Dior’s most classic flowers. So, Rosy Glow smells like the lychee at the heart of a rose; Peachy Glow finds the fuzzy peach skin scent in jasmine; Purple Glow teases out the raspberry note of iris. They’re gourmand, but not childish. “I wanted to surprise them with a new, ‘flower pulp’ sensation,” he says. They are, as he intended, “feel-good perfumes” that have “a truly gourmand dimension and that touch of French je ne sais quoi characterised by irreverence crossed with carefree, sensual youth”.

Scent, for Taylor-Joy, is profoundly tied to memory and metamorphosis. She assigns a different fragrance to each character she plays, creating a portable memory. Peachy Glow, with its jasmine core, connects her to childhood, to her mother who loved the flower. But beyond nostalgia, she uses scent to shape her own energy. “I will spray perfume even if I’m not seeing anyone that day, because it makes me feel like my aura is amplified,” she explains. “It’s like a personal prayer, of sorts.”

A NEW ERA

Complementing these irresistible scents is the reinvented Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil, a product Philips describes as “instantly appealing, girly, and gorgeous,” delivering “bespoke” colour and intense hydration.

The cult-favourite product, now infused with nourishing cherry oil for 24-hour hydration and eight-hour smoothing, has been expanded with two new gourmand shine finishes, Sparkly and Glaze, joining the iconic Juicy, across 16 ultra-glowy shades. Taylor-Joy’s experience is the perfect test of his theory. She doesn’t talk about pH-reactive technology or cherry oil first; she talks about the feeling. “I’ve always been a big fan of a berry lip,” she shares, pointing to the deep shades as an instant confidence switch. Her current favourite is the Black Cherry oil in the new Glaze finish, which Philips designed to coat lips in a “milky syrup” of intense colour. “Minimal effort, high elevation,” Taylor-Joy says. “You just put it on and you’re like, ‘oh, I’m done!’”

She also instinctively appreciates the practical elegance Philips engineered. She notes how it stays put without transferring and has even woven it into a private, nurturing ritual. “I’ll sometimes put it on before bed after I’ve kissed my husband goodnight,” she confesses. “I know I’ll wake up with nourished, lovely lips – it’s a nice thing to do just before you go to bed.” It’s the ultimate validation of his vision: a product that works as brilliantly as it makes you feel.

Being a Dior ambassador, particularly with this innovative launch, has deepened Taylor-Joy’s appreciation for the artistry behind luxury. “My love affair with fashion started later, and I discovered the magic of clothes through character and through feeling like I had the outlines of a person that I could make real with clothes and with the right hairstyle. I could make them their own individual person,” she reflects.

Her introduction to Dior, which coincided with this discovery, has been profound. “Having that run concurrently with my introduction to Dior, and being able to visit the archives, deepened this respect for craftsmanship and respect for art,” she shares. “Now, it really influences the way I look at everything in my life, because if you aren’t aware of design prior and then you suddenly get your eyes opened to it, it makes looking at the world a more luscious experience.”

Anya Taylor-Joy, with her captivating energy and authentic connection to beauty as a form of self-expression, is the perfect embodiment of the new Dior Addict. She reminds us that true radiance stems from confidence, joy, and the freedom to embrace every facet of our identity – from the scent we wear to the shine on our lips. With the new Lip Glow Oil and Gourmand Glow fragrances, Dior Addict doesn’t just offer products; it offers an invitation to a more colourful, sensual, and utterly irresistible world.

“Addicted to anya” IS PUBLISHED IN THE 17th EDITION OF GRAZIA middle east.
