It usually happens after a time spent zigzagging from Central Park to meetings in Midtown and dinner plans you were excited about until your feet started giving up. Walking into Park Hyatt New York at that point feels like you have stepped into the safe space you needed.

Located on West 57th Street, directly across from Carnegie Hall, Park Hyatt New York is situated on the quieter side of town, within one of Manhattan’s most beloved areas. The area already has that lived-in, neighbourhood feel, and the interiors follow the same mood. Yes, as you enter the lobby, there is a lot of marble, in typical New York style, but it is paired with warm wood, sculptural touches and a welcoming atmosphere.

The rooms are considered large by the city’s standards, which any frequent visitor will know is a rare privilege. The colours are muted, the fabrics feel comforting, and the spacious layout makes it easy to relax without tripping over your suitcase. The bathrooms are lined with marble and fitted with deep soaking bathtubs – ideal after a long travel day.

Photo: Supplied

After winding down, Central Park is just a short walk away. The MoMA and Fifth Avenue are also close enough to incorporate into a day without exhausting yourself. It’s a location that works well for travellers who want to experience everything the city has to offer.

On the 25th floor, the saltwater swimming pool has a feature that incorporates New York in the most creative way, with music from Carnegie Hall flowing through underwater speakers as you complete your laps. The spa and fitness centre also builds on that feeling of comfort, giving guests spaces to recover from long flights and packed days, while staying on top of their workout goals.

The hotel’s dining offerings revolve around The Living Room, a restaurant that, like its name, is designed to feel like a well-loved New York apartment as opposed to being too formal. The menu mainly offers contemporary American dishes and small plates, shaped by the city’s mix of global influences, and serves everything from breakfast classics to cocktails and light evening bites.

By the time your luggage is zipped, you’ll have also realised that a stay at the Park Hyatt New York provided you with an actual reset. All the little details, such as the generous square footage, proper blackout curtains, satisfying shower pressure, and plenty of dining options, make all the difference. While New York will always be New York, this is one of those properties where the city’s edge feels a little more comforting.

[260,7142,35,273

The GRAZIA Retreat: Park Hyatt New York

<meta name="description" content="There is always that one day during your New York trip when you return to your hotel with the feeling that the city has squeezed every last drop of energy from you.
