Awards season has officially begun. Overnight, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association<\/a> unveiled its 2026 Golden Globe nominations, handing this year\u2019s frontrunner status to Paul Thomas Anderson\u2019s One Battle After Another<\/em>.<\/a> With nine nominations\u2014including Best Picture, Director, Screenplay, and a sweep of nods to its talented cast\u2014it\u2019s the one to watch as ballots begin to gather momentum.<\/p>\n

Close on its heels, Joachim Trier\u2019s bittersweet family drama Sentimental Value<\/em> managed to secure eight nominations, while Ryan Coogler\u2019s gothic action blockbuster Sinners<\/em> continued a remarkable run with seven.<\/p>\n

Because the Globes separate drama from musical\/comedy, One Battle After Another<\/em>\u00a0heads the latter category, while Sentimental Value<\/em> and Sinners<\/em> will challenge each other for Best Motion Picture- Drama. Also in contention: Frankenstein<\/em><\/a>, Hamnet<\/em>, It Was Just an Accident<\/em> and The Secret Agent<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Television had its own share of surprises. The third instalment of The White Lotus<\/em><\/a> once again proved highly acclaimed, landing six nominations, followed by Stephen Graham\u2019s ambitious one-shot crime series Adolescence<\/em> with five. Only Murders in the Building<\/em><\/a> and Severance<\/em> both earned four nods, keeping streamers firmly in play. Notably, Netflix<\/a> leads overall in television nominations.<\/p>\n

As always, the Globes<\/a> weren\u2019t afraid of unexpected decisions. Wicked: For Good<\/em> <\/a>missed out on Best Picture entirely; Jacob Elordi<\/a> found himself nominated for both film and a TV; and performances from Sydney Sweeney, Wunmi Mosaku and more were considered as snubs.<\/p>\n

Still, it wouldn\u2019t be the Globes without a little chaos. And with Nikki Glaser set to return as host come January 11, 2026, streaming live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel, the race to awards season is officially underway.<\/p>\n
