Earlier this year, when Jane Birkin\u2019s<\/a> original Herm\u00e8s Birkin bag sold for over \u20ac7 million this summer, the fashion world collectively paused. Not just because of the eye-watering price tag but because it confirmed what style insiders have long known: for some, handbags aren\u2019t just accessories, they’re a true investment.<\/p>\n

And for those looking to make another wise handbag investment \u2013 just as you would in the stock market \u2013 then this upcoming Abu Dhabi event is one you need to mark in your calendars.<\/p>\n

Carry Me, a first-of-its-kind handbag festival curated by Sotheby\u2019s, is landing in Abu Dhabi on September 25. Held in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), the event is taking place at the Bassam Freiha Art Foundation and marks the beginning of a global tour through luxury capitals across the globe.<\/p>\n

At the heart of the event is the \u201cultra handbag,\u201d the cr\u00e8me de la cr\u00e8me of luxury bags, often so exclusive they never hit the retail floor. \u201c<\/p>\n

It\u2019s always been an in-the-know trend,\u201d says Morgane Halimi, Sotheby\u2019s Global Head of Handbags and Fashion, \u201cbut the Birkin sale has propelled the ultra handbag into the global spotlight.\u201d<\/p>\n

This event is as much about community and creativity as it is about collecting.<\/p>\n

The festival will present trend insights, secrets of the trade, and table talks with Sotheby’s and a masterclass on collecting bags. The full-day schedule offers a chance for guests to immerse themselves in the world of luxury bags fully. They’ll also have opportunities to observe some bag-styling tricks with scarves and create their own personalised bag charms. Guests will also gain access to a curated collection of rare, highly coveted bags available for purchase, pieces typically reserved for the world\u2019s most elite collectors.<\/p>\n

Designed to share, educate, create, and connect, the festival invites collectors, fashion lovers, and cultural tastemakers to come together, exchange stories, and maybe even walk away with a new
