Nothing plays on our nostalgia quite like our favourite childhood films, and as an icon of that era, Lindsay Lohan is leaning into her greatest hits. More than two decades after Freaky Friday<\/em> hit screens, she reprises not only her teen role for its sequel, but some of the notable fashion moments from the film, too.<\/p>\n

On the purple carpet at London\u2019s Odeon Luxe Leicester Square for the Freakier Friday<\/em> premiere, the actress stepped out in a glittering lilac gown. Custom-designed by Ludovic de Saint Sernin<\/a>, the dress paid homage to the closing scene look from the original 2003 film.<\/p>\n

The original outfit\u2014a floral lace cami and matching skirt by Y2K favourite Mandalay\u2014was worn for the wedding of her mother, Tess, played by Jamie Lee Curtis<\/a>. While it was a feminine curveball from her otherwise punkish on-screen alter ego Anna Coleman, it was given a grungey twist when she stepped on the stage barefoot, guitar in hand and hair out for the finale performance of ‘Take Me Away’ with her band, Pink Slip.<\/p>\n

Fast forward two decades, and Lohan\u2019s reimagined version is just as iconic.<\/p>\n

Featuring crystal-studded halter straps, a corseted bustier, and shimmering floral embroidery that nodded directly to the original, the chainmail gown was completed with a rhinestone-studded guitar clutch by Judith Leiber. Stylist Andrew Mukamal<\/a>\u2014the creative mind behind Margot Robbie’s Barbie<\/em> press tour looks<\/a>\u2014later confirmed Coleman\u2019s closet was very much on the mood board.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the latest in a string of delightful deep-cuts from Lohan\u2019s nostalgic press tour, which has seen nods to The Parent Trap<\/em><\/a>, too. Earlier this week, she even wore a retro-style Pink Slip band tee for a Fallon appearance, paired with Ghesqui\u00e8re-era Balenciagas from her own 2000s
