In 2022 Netflix dropped its most successful documentary ever. Harry & Meghan<\/em><\/a>; a six-part series chronicling the romance of and eventual relinquishment of royalty by Prince Harry<\/a> and Meghan Markle.<\/p>\n

The series was the first production of a larger deal between the pair and the streaming giant. Two of Harry\u2019s solo projects, Polo<\/em><\/a> and The Heart of Invictus<\/em> followed, as well as Live to Lead <\/em>by the pair. Markle then went on to release her lifestyle project With Love, Meghan<\/em>, the second season to which is still set to air<\/a> later this year.<\/p>\n

However, it seems Netflix\u2019s $200 million (USD) deal with the couple is no more, as the company will not be renewing their contract or producing anymore projects with the pair.<\/p>\n

This news comes shortly after the release of Netflix\u2019s \u201cWhat We Watched Report<\/a>\u201d which may have revealed the reason for the short-lived collaboration. According to the report, Harry\u2019s Polo <\/em>was watched by only 500,000 viewers this year, and With Love, Meghan<\/em> received 5.3 million views, making it the 383rd most watched show.<\/p>\n

For context, this would rank it behind entries like the first season of Gossip Girl<\/em><\/a>, all seasons of Suits<\/em>, and season four of Emily in Paris<\/em><\/a>. On the other hand, Adolescence, <\/em>and season two and three of Squid Game<\/em> took the top three spots.<\/p>\n

A source spoke to The Sun<\/em><\/a>, revealing that there is \u201cno animosity from either side\u201d and there may even be one-off projects at some point. However, the streaming service feels \u201cthey\u2019ve got all they can from the couple.\u201d<\/p>\n

Relatedly, Netflix did sign a deal with King Charles<\/a> last month, who will be working with Idris Elba to produce an upcoming documentary about The King\u2019s Trust. This is a charity founded by the royal in 1976, which aims to establish grants for those who are socially and economically challenged. Elba himself was a recipient of one of these grants as a teenager.<\/p>\n

It looks like Netflix isn\u2019t done with all royals just yet.<\/p>\n
