Celebrated annually on August 28th<\/sup>, Emirati Women\u2019s Day is a celebration founded by the \u2018Mother of the Nation\u2019 herself, Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Beginning in 2015, Sheikha Fatima specifically chose August 28 due to its significance, with the date coinciding with the establishment of the UAE\u2019s General Women\u2019s Union (GWU) in 1975.<\/p>\n

Her Highness has been a longtime advocate and voice for women\u2019s rights across the region. She has also been one of the forces behind the United Arab Emirates’ progression, largely due to her undying effort across the years for societal change.<\/p>\n

Sheikha Fatima designed the day to celebrate both the country\u2019s progress in achieving gender equality and creating a space for Emirati women\u2019s voices to be heard alongside their impact to help build the country.<\/p>\n

The theme of 2025<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Aligning with the UAE\u2019s yearly theme of \u2018community\u2019, this year\u2019s theme for Emirati Women\u2019s Day is \u2018Hand in Hand\u2019, supporting the nation’s vision of unification. Aiming to strengthen social cohesion across the country and reaffirm the vital role of women as equal partners in the building of the UAE’s future. By striving for cohesion across all sectors of society.<\/p>\n

Not only this, but 2025’s celebration also marks 50 years since the establishment of the General Women\u2019s Union in 1975 \u2013 five decades championing for women\u2019s rights and developments
